Experienced electrical engineer with a broad knowledge base including analog and digital circuit design, RF analysis and design, circuit card design, and embedded systems hardware. This knowledge and experience will be used to design, integrate, and troubleshoot ground and aviation military systems used for training and instrumentation. Products include military aircraft avionics, precision missile launcher instrumentation, various radios and radio networks. Hands-on experience is a must, because at ICE as we design products from the ground up and then support them in the field with our customers. Works with design, software, systems, program, and mechanical engineers to realize new products. Occasional travel may be required.

  • Analog & digital circuit analysis & design, component selection, circuit card design, layout.
  • Theoretical and practical RF development including testing and tuning circuits, matching, filter design, interfacing with circuit-board level transceivers and amplifiers, antenna design and optimization.
  • Design validation and qualification including interpreting test requirements (e.g., MIL-STD’s) and co-developing test plans. Performs some pre-qualification testing on designs.
  • Document designs including schematics, specifications, assembly/fabrication drawings, and interface specifications.
  • Prepare and participate in design reviews, both internal and customer-facing.
  • Design and debug various hardware digital protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, IrDA, USB, Ethernet).
  • Design and debug embedded systems hardware using 8-32-bit processors, RAM, FPGAs, various ASICs.
  • Design and debug various analog circuits including power supply, measurement circuits and RF circuits.
  • Effectively organizes tasks, prioritizes execution, works as a team member, and leads specific efforts.
  • Scopes effort to accomplish high-level tasks and work with managers to estimate effort & timelines.
  • Maintains and improves existing designs including schematic and PCB footprint libraries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, working on multiple projects with multiple teams.

  • Engineering degree; Bachelors/Masters w/6+ years’ experience or Associates w/8+ years’ experience.
  • Demonstrated analog, digital, and RF circuit design including schematic capture and circuit board layout.
  • Hands-on experience operating test equipment including DMM, oscilloscopes, spectrum and network analyzers and logic analyzers.
  • Experience with analytical tools (MATLAB, Octave, SPICE).
  • Experience with power supply design including power and thermal evaluations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot circuits & systems, design experiments and perform worst case analysis.
  • Demonstrated documentation, presentation, and analysis capabilities.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance is required.

  • Military electronics design experience including designing and qualifying to MIL-STDs (810/461/704).
  • Experience with RF (EMI/EMC) testing to MIL-STDs or FCC requirements (Part 15).
  • Experience performing circuit board capture and layout with Mentor DXD/EXP (Expedition) and Altium.
  • Experience designing embedded systems hardware and firmware including FPGA/CPLDs (Altera Quartus, VHDL, Logic Schematic Capture) and 8/32 bit processors.
