Developing and Sustaining Cross-Cultural Communication Skills — The world has changed.  Community policing in the modern era demands emotionally intelligent officers.  But a reactive and politicized media environment can make it increasingly difficult for officers in the field to develop and maintain soft skills, cultural literacy, and open communication within their communities.

Different cultures communicate differently. Rather than just a narrow band of stereotypical scenarios, MILO systems come with a library of 900 unique immersive role-playing simulations. These vividly illustrate the diversity of American lifestyles, situations, and communication styles.  They feature a wide range of culturally and situationally appropriate actors, in terms of ages, races, genders, abilities, and nations of origin.

Through simulation-based implicit bias training, police trainees can enhance their own sensitivity to the diversity with which we communicate and come together as modern communities. If they make a mistake, they do so in a safe, controlled, debrief-able environment where they can review, adjust, and try again until they get it right.
