The SimCreator vehicle driving simulation platform is designed to readily integrate into research environments. It’s a complete hardware/software solution. Every aspect can be configured to suit your research—from low-cost generic virtual vehicle driving simulations built around gaming-style steering and pedal sets to custom mock-up vehicles with full instrumentation based on current or future production vehicles or concepts.

Using FAAC’s SimCreator application software and hardware, the experience of the drive can be simulated in a way that fully replicates the feel of the road and complexity of any driving scenario. Its vehicle simulation provides the sort of advanced modeling solution that is integral to safety and engineering research. Whether you are conducting research into road safety or your engineering team needs to model how vehicle changes affect performance, SimCreator gives you the platform you need for insightful analysis.

The optional SimADAS plug-in for SimCreator allows for virtual testing of driver assistance systems, enabling safe research into distracted driving, self-driving car technology, ADAS, and more. For some applications, SimCreator can even be supplemented with additional vehicle simulation tools that enable real-time video capture, implementation of virtual scenarios and environments, and more.

Complete Vehicle and Driving Simulations:

All of the software elements of your simulator are controlled through SimCreator, our real-time vehicle driving simulation and modeling system.  Using its graphical interface, you can configure and coordinate vehicles, driving scenarios, dynamics, environments, monitoring, and driver feedback. SimCreator’s easy-to-use, modular, scalable software makes it simple to build on your original vehicle simulation model as your research expands or changes direction.

SimCreator has two primary modules:

  • Vehicle dynamics themselves are designed in the SimVehicle software, which can model a wide range of vehicle types (four-, six-, or eight-wheeled, tracked) with varying load types and sizes—even equipment malfunctions
  • Simulation scenarios and environments are crafted in SimVista—which also allows for on-the-fly control of the scenario, including modifications to weather, lighting, driving, and vehicle conditions, joystick control of pedestrians and other vehicles, etc.

Depending on your research needs and vehicle simulation requirements, SimCreator and SimCreator DX can be supplemented with:

  • SimObserver a video capture system that can include driver eye tracking
  • SimDriver an autonomous interaction simulation software

SimCreator’s modular software smoothly integrates with other software packages and can be scaled and modified over time as your research evolves. Up to 10 driving research simulators can be networked using SimConnect, creating a rich, naturalistic environment in which many human drivers are simultaneously interacting with the same scenario.
