DESIGN ENGINEER III (contract-to-hire)

Summary:

Designs hardware specializing in integration with military platforms using digital, analog, and RF circuit designs that interface, collect and process data providing feedback with existing hardware. Research and designs circuit requirements. Position performs engineering design evaluations as lead project design engineer. Occasional travel may be required. Ability to obtain Security Clearance is required.

 

Responsibilities/Skills:

  • Designs, develops, and tests electrical systems, products, printed circuit boards and firmware.
  • Architect, design, develop, debug, deploy, and maintain electrical and electronic hardware for new and existing ICE products.
  • Develops circuit/system requirements and technologies to meet them.
  • Designs, develops, tests, modifies, installs, and updates firmware.
  • Knowledge of software development models and project management techniques.
  • Evaluates system, electronic designs, equipment, and techniques and makes recommendations for design improvements.
  • RF design and debug experience are strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of digital communication hardware and protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, IrDA, USB, Wi-Fi, RFID, TCP/IP, MIL-STD-1553).
  • Design to meet EM/EMC and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and activities.
  • Encryption hardware experience a plus.
  • Solid PCB design experience required, Flex PCB design experiences a plus.
  • Extensive experience with Altium Designer required.
  • Support environmental and qualification testing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Problem Solving and Discretion/Latitude:

  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical aspects of the position.
  • Prepares for and participates in peer design reviews regarding all aspects of the project.
  • Determine and develop approach to technical challenges.
  • Support trade-off decisions between electrical and mechanical restrictions to support system requirements.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet safety, reliability and airworthiness/certification requirements.

 

Knowledge/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • 6+ years’ experience in electrical/computer engineering.
  • Associates degree and 8+ years electronic design experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong background in hardware (e.g. CCA design) and software (e.g. C) development required.
  • Experience developing high performance embedded designs for RF signal processing applications required.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to obtain Security Clearance is required.

 

Job Type: Full-time In-Office                                                                                             Compensation: $55.61 – $84.42 per hour
