The simulation software deformable terrain feature provides a “snow blanket” that operators would plow. This will provide varying levels of depth that the instructor can introduce at the Instructor Station. Virtual vehicle models are available that include full functionality of various equipment and controls. For example, a dump truck with a plow, salt spreader, and wing blade attached. We also build full custom vehicle models that match customer fleet equipment.
Increase Plow Driver Safety and Efficiency—Regardless of the Weather
Realistic training environments provide real experience. FAAC’s immersive snow plow driver training simulators create vivid virtual environments that have been demonstrated to improve safety and efficiency on the road in all winter weather conditions.
FAAC’s snow plow training simulators are designed to give fine-tuned, compelling training experiences to both new and veteran snowplow operators. Cabs can be generic or built to precisely match your fleets’ controls, indicators, gauges, and switches. Multiple high-definition displays offer a geometrically correct +300º field-of-view with adjustable inset mirrors. Our award-winning immersive driving simulation software allows trainees to work at their own pace through basic skills development, refresher activities, annual certifications, and remedial lessons.
Instructors can precisely and accurately craft training scenarios that mimic real-life challenges and hazards specific to your region and community, because it’s not just about the snow – it’s also about traffic, visibility conditions, and other local factors. Through immersive simulation training, your drivers will not only become adept at the fundamentals of snow plow operation, they will also acclimate to the real-world stressors of operating a cumbersome vehicle in adverse traffic and weather conditions. Most importantly, with a FAAC snow plow simulation solution, you can reap all of these benefits at any time of year, in any weather, with absolutely no risk to the truck, the equipment, the operator, or the community.

Better Snow Plow Simulation Tools, More Effective Snow Plow Driver Training
The technology is only half the solution. Over and over again, our customers find that the real value in an integrated, immersive FAAC simulation training solution is in the opportunities it creates for trainers to pinpoint exactly where their students are succeeding and falling short.
FAAC’s dynamic and intuitive Instructor Operating Station (IOS) includes lesson planning and evaluation tools, as well as exclusive real-time controls. Instructors can jump back, replay, and re-drive student scenarios, as well as dynamically change in weather, traffic, and visibility conditions. They can drop in spontaneous hazards, and even control simulated pedestrians, animals, bicycles, and other objects via joystick. This leads to a more comprehensive and immersive training session that goes beyond the basics of driving and plowing to fully simulate the real-life experience of the operator. After all, it’s not enough for the operator to simply know how to clear snow – they need to be able to maintain situational awareness and follow the safety measures that are expected of them.
