Real Experience. Real Training. Real Lives.

Realistic training environments provide real experience and save real lives. FAAC offers fully integrated military ground vehicle operators training suites that include counter-IED (C-IED) capabilities. FAAC technology allows for high-fidelity simulation training in the detection and detonation of improvised explosive devices with a variety of simulated counter-IED vehicles such as the MPCV Buffalo, Panther MRAP, and others.

But the goal is always the same: To provide the greatest knowledge transfer at the lowest risk, so soldiers can meet objectives in the field with the lowest possible risk of injury or loss of life. FAAC simulation training offers a higher level of realism that can allow army personnel to effectively deal with the threat of an IED or other homemade explosives that they may encounter on the battlefield or during the course of a normal patrol.

Counter-IED Training Solutions: The Virtual Clearance Training Suite

FAAC’s VCTS (Virtual Clearance Training Suite) is a safe, economical, and highly efficient solution for training engineer vehicle and equipment operators in every aspect of the explosive defeat mission.

Delivered as a set of four or five entirely self-contained, networked semi-trailers, the VCTS includes four high-fidelity fully immersive MPCV Buffalo vehicle simulators with coordinated visual and motion cues, two reconfigurable vehicle simulators (easily swapped from Panther MRAP to RG-31) with .50 caliber gunner’s stations (fitted with head-mount VR display), a variety of simulated vehicle-mounted mine detection system and optic sensory systems, and an MTRS Talon simulator with OEM controls.  The system includes simulated in-vehicle communication networks and systems, via which the instructors (in a separate classroom trailer) communicate with the training crew.  The classroom trailer includes the Instructor Operator Stations (IOS) and seats up to 18 students, for individual, crew, or collective training and after-action review.

The included learning software package is pre-loaded with 40 hours of basic and advanced training scenarios (with automatic or instructor scoring, jump-back, and after-action review capture capabilities).  The instructor can always generate new scenarios fine-tuned to address specific crew concerns, add complexity, or target desired tactics, techniques, and procedures.  Scenarios can be built on generic environments (rural, urban, alpine, desert, etc.) or modeled on specific locales.  Any scenario can be modified in advance or while running, with the instructor wielding full control over weather and lighting conditions, visibility, vehicle malfunctions, and other scenario elements.

The VCTS is the most configurable and flexible ground simulation training suite to date.  As military assets and IED threats evolve, so will the hardware and software of your VCTS solution.

FAAC was founded in 1971 specifically to create military weapons simulations for the U.S. armed services.  Since 2002 FAAC’s Operator Driving Simulators (ODS) have been a major contributor to the training of military Motor Transport Operators. Today, these military simulation training technologies have become the standard for real-time military weapons, tactics, and skills training and assessment.

FAAC embraces a “Customer for Life” philosophy. We invest time in understanding your assets and objectives, work closely with your team to develop and deliver the appropriate simulation solution, and help you find the best way to integrate this custom solution into your training procedures. Most importantly, we support you in maintaining and evolving this solution as your policies, assets, and challenges inevitably change over time.

We don’t sell equipment; we partner with agencies and their instructors to develop their ideal simulation training solution. FAAC’s C-IED training simulation goes beyond what you’d find in a typical IED training kit (which is often just a straightforward fake device). Instead, our immersive simulations prepare military personnel for the realities of IED threats in the field. Our simulations represent the next step in IED training aids, and are more effective than traditional training courses in ensuring that armed services personnel are adequately prepared for the tactical details of terrorist warfare.

Related Simulator: Virtual Clearance Training Suite (VCTS)

The advanced IOS, multi-net communications, scenario generation system and updated databases ensure the VCTS is the Army’s most configurable and flexible ground simulation training suite. In addition, FAAC designed the VCTS with a modular upgrade/modification capability to meet evolving requirements. FAAC is in Phase 1 of a multi-year upgrade with planned addition of remote controlled vehicles and weapons stations, new sensors, blowers, rollers, and complex IEDs.

The Virtual Clearance Training Suite allows your crews to rehearse route clearance and IED inspection procedures without any risk to personnel or equipment. At its core, the VCTS allows Army crews to develop coordination when inspecting a potential threat, and to perform as a unit in even the most difficult field conditions. Unlike traditional aids, simulation training allows trainers to review and pinpoint any potential areas for further rehearsal.
