ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II

Summary:

Supports engineers by building prototypes and test equipment to conduct engineering projects.  Conduct tests and repairs as identified and needed.

 

Responsibilities/Skills:

  • Documents schematics using information garnered from conversations with engineers.
  • Develops and maintains an engineering notebook.
  • Reads and deciphers datasheets for common electrical components.
  • Utilizes schematics, diagrams and notes to build test fixtures, cables or prototypes.
  • Solders, de-solders, and reworks boards.
  • Conducts test operations and builds-up prototype electronic devices.
  • Prepares test results to present to engineers to determine plan of action.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs fixtures, test equipment and apparatus.
  • May develop engineering plans and designs.
  • Investigates and analyzes new materials and equipment.
  • Tracks and maintains an inventory of engineering assets and parts.
  • Track the dates for the calibration of engineering tools.
  • Performs other related duties, as required.

 

Problem Solving and Discretion/Latitude:

  • Full knowledge of the job requirements.
  • Substantial acquaintance with and understanding general aspects of the job, also with a broad understanding of the details.
  • General supervision and instructions given for routine work and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments.

Works primarily with immediate department, as well as other departments in the company.

Knowledge/Requirements:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent required.
  • 4+ years of experience in the field or in a related area is required.
  • Completion of apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area is desired.
  • Solid knowledge of electronic maintenance and repair is required. Mechanical capability is required.
  • The ability to work in high visibility, somewhat high stressful environments is required.

 

Job Type: Full-time                                                                   Compensation Range: $29.10 – $41.10
