Summary:
Serves as lead technical writer for government and subcontract deliverables, managing the full lifecycle of documentation projects. Oversee creation of complex technical manuals, contract reports, and training materials, while also supporting proposals, RFIs, and marketing initiatives. Mentor junior writers and ensure compliance with DoD and AS9100 standards.
Responsibilities/Skills:
- Manage and deliver high-priority CDRLs/SDRLs, including complex technical manuals and logistics reports.
- Lead proposal writing support for RFIs, RFPs, and program management documentation.
- Oversee consistency, compliance, and quality of technical documentation across programs.
- Interface with customers, auditors, and program managers to represent Technical Publications.
- Train/mentor junior technical writers.
- Support business development through polished marketing content.
- Establish and maintain document templates, style guides, and processes.
Minimum Requirements:
- 6+ years in aerospace/defense technical writing, with leadership/project management experience OR
- 6+ years of equivalent experience in live training systems, electronics, telemetry, network technology or other regulated industries OR
- A combination of both.
- Extensive experience managing complex technical publications projects.
- Strong knowledge of DoD Data Item Descriptions (DIDs), MIL-STDs, and government contract deliverables; prior defense/aerospace experience preferred, but candidates from other regulated industries will be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver complex documents under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- U.S. citizen, eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Technical Writing / Communications, Engineering, or related field.
- Prior defense/aerospace experience strongly preferred; equivalent experience in other regulated industries will also be considered.
- Experience leading proposal writing and customer deliverables.
- Familiarity with Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
Job Type: Full-time In-Office Compensation: $43.28 – $49.05 per hour
