Facilities Technician III

Summary

Performs installation, repair, routing and maintenance of all systems in the facility.  Completes facilities repairs and maintenance as required.  May work in areas such as carpentry, construction, plumbing, electrical, loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.

Responsibilities/Skills

  • Performs repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment.
  • Using appropriate hand and power tools, performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
  • Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
  • Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment.
  • Uses blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
  • Installs, routes and maintains the wiring and cable systems for the entire building’s burgler, fire, computer, telephone, security and other systems.
  • Controls the heating and air conditioning systems and wiring.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Considerable knowledge of the job and specialized functions.
  • Complete and comprehensive acquaintance with and understanding of all aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems.
  • Limited supervision. No instructions needed on routine work, and general instructions given on new or special assignments.

Knowledge/Requirements

  • S. Diploma and completion of formal apprenticeship preferred, or combination of experience and training.
  • 7+ years of directly related experience.
  • A common-sense approach to problem solving is required.

Job Type: Full-time     Compensation: $31.49 – $35.63 /hour
